Shelf Life is a community storytelling project using stories to reveal that sometimes community grows where we least expect it; in this case, at the neighborhood grocery store,
the Promenade 23 Red Apple Grocery.
As Seattle experiences rapid - and seemingly unchecked - growth, community anchors are often gone before we know what we've lost. Stories can show us those places, remind us of what's important, and change the way
we imagine the future.
Through pop-up story booths and this website, Shelf Life will provide a space for community members to share their stories and memories. The project is an evolving collaboration between local filmmakers, oral historians, educators, librarians, photographers, and artists, including: Jill Freidberg, Inye Wokoma, Gretchen Burger, Sandy Cioffi, Carina A del Rosario, and Dacia Saenz.
